    NEXT MEETING

    December 10th, 2025 at Skylinks Cafe @ 1800

General Meeting 10/16/25

Overview

  • Major tournament format changes require president or vice president approval moving forward.

  • Discussion of tournament participation numbers: 72-73 players in recent events.

  • Frustration over lack of communication and unclear rules for tournaments.

  • Comparison with other clubs (e.g., El Dorado) regarding club size, participation, and payouts.

  • Debate over club expenses (Golf Genius, Squarespace) and potential cost-saving measures.

  • Proposals for future tournament formats, payouts, and inclusivity (e.g., age, handicap, tee selection).

Tournament Format Changes and Executive Oversight

  • Policy or format changes require president or vice president approval.

  • Tournament format changed without leadership input.

  • Previous tournament had 72 sign-ups; current had 73.

  • Change resulted in only 1 more participant.

  • Request for no major tournament changes without leadership sign-off.

Communication Issues and Rule Clarity

  • Lack of clear tournament format and rules caused confusion.

  • Participants requested advance information on tee options and rules.

  • Ongoing complaints about unfinished single match play and event delays.

  • Proposal: Review all tournament rules and formats in January meeting.

  • Plan to post all tournament details, including minor events, on website.

Club Comparisons, Participation, and Financial Concerns

  • Tournament scheduling discussed; conflicts with club events on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Team play format uses random pairings by handicap, not player choice; six consecutive weeks starting January 3rd.

  • Roster size set at 16-32 players; priority given to those committing to all weeks.

  • Pace of play policy: 15-minute window, penalty stroke for violations; use of Bob Genius software debated due to $2,600-$3,000 annual cost.

  • Club size: 263 members vs. El Dorado's 500; survey distributed to gather feedback on participation and scheduling.

Future Proposals: Formats, Payouts, Inclusivity

  • Planned to purchase trophies and plaques for club championship winners; Mayor's Cup trophy to be more elaborate.

  • Mayor's Cup scheduled for April with reduced field size (proposed top 16 qualify for match play, payout to top 16).

  • Discussion on tournament formats: 7 individual, 5 team tournaments; two-man tournaments in September and Turkey Shootout.

  • Proposed changes to skins: allow use of handicaps, consider splitting skins by tee or handicap group.

  • Debate on tee assignments for older/high-handicap players; suggestion to allow flexibility (e.g., play from whites or reds for seniors).
